Open House will be held on February 16, 2023
I also invite you to call the school and talk with me personally. Through our conversation, I will share with you not only details of our kindergarten program, but Dovercourt as a whole; our values, mission, programs, climate, student opportunities etc.
I will share with you who we are and what we stand for.
This will also be an opportunity for you to ask specific questions that may be of concern or interest to you.
Through this phone conversation we will connect in a way that is catered to you and to your child - how Dovercourt may fit with you and your family.
I look forward to talking with you and I am excited about the potential of having your family become part of ours.

Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2022-23 year at Dovercourt School. It is an absolute privilege to be a part of the students, staff, parents and community members of Dovercourt. I feel very blessed and honored to be here.

Dovercourt School is an inviting and inclusive school community where diversity is celebrated and valued, and where relationships are nurtured. Emphasis is placed on creating an environment where students feel capable and connected and develop the skills required to be contributing members, both in our school and in the broader community.  All members of Dovercourt adhere to our school promise; We lead with KIND hearts, FIERCE minds and BRAVE spirits.

At Dovercourt School we believe that educating our students is a collective responsibility, shared by students and their families, school staff and the entire community. Through a collaborative approach in working together with you as partners, we will maximize the potential of all students. We are committed to providing a positive learning environment that will foster and support high academic and behavioral expectations, capitalizing on the value of strong relationships.

In an effort to ensure all students are successful, faculty will use a differentiated approach to teaching. This approach includes thoughtful planning, strategic assessment of learning outcomes, and targeted, flexible instruction. Classroom teaching will be a blend of whole class, group, partner, and individual instruction. Students will be provided with multiple opportunities to make sense of ideas and information, practice new skills, and to demonstrate what they have learned.

Communication is key at Dovercourt School and is a shared responsibility.  Students use agendas as well as updates and information will be communicated mainly through the use of School Zone. Also, feel free to drop by the school office and introduce yourself, share your feedback or concerns and ask any questions. Your questions, concerns, observations and feedback are welcomed and embraced so please connect with us by phone, email or in person at any time.

I am proud of your children; I am proud of our teachers and I am particularily proud of our whole school community that is truly a lighthouse of diversity, acceptance, and caring. I look forward to an amazing year. If you have any questions, our doors are always open.

Sincerely,

Leanne Moncrieff
